Our History

Our History

2nd Renfrew (Trinity) Scout Group celebrated its Centenary on 21 November 2021 and what a history we have.

We knew our history was valuable and diverse and wanted to ensure that all visitors to our memorabilia displays in November 2021 and April 2022 benefitted from our archives.  We hoped that those who arrived knowing a lot, left a little wiser; those who knew not much, left knowing a bit more; and those who knew very little about our history learned a great deal about us.  We’re delighted we achieved that goal.

We received many congratulatory messages on the depth of the information we provided, including receiving a reference in the United Kingdom Parliament.  With that in mind, we decided that although it’s our history, it’s valuable to our town and wider Scouting area, so want to share it with everyone.  We have, therefore, as far as possible, recreated our displays so that they’re suitable for our website.

Please take time to have a look at the various sections which sit within our history (you’ll see them as they slide out to the right of the History heading; they’re also in the green box on the right of this screen).  Hopefully, like our November 2021 and April 2022 visitors, you’ll learn more about us and perhaps decide that a Group with a history like ours is worth joining.

If anyone has questions, please let us know, as we’ll be happy to answer and provide further background.  The only thing we do request, is that if anyone wishes to copy anything, please ask us first.  We can be contacted on 2ndrenfrewtrinityscouts@gmail.com.

Before we sign off this page, we’d like everyone to know there were a lot of people involved in creating the displays, digging out memorabilia, lending us items, donating items and help in lots of other ways.  There are too many to list here, but they all know that we will be enternally grateful to one and all for helping us expand our knowledge of our Group and add to our valuable archive.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you enjoy learning more about us.  Due to the volume of historical information, we’re working hard to add to our website, so please keep visiting to catch up with the latest additions.

Yours in Scouting,

All Section Leaders
