Thank you for visiting our Scouts page.
In case you don’t know much about us, here’s some information about the Scout Section:
- We’re for young people aged 10½ to 14
- We meet on Friday nights from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm in Trinity Church halls (unless we’re outside the halls)
- We do activities in the halls and at outside locations for one off events, overnight camps and weekends away

If you’re thinking about joining us, here is a list of what we did over the last session. We do lots more, so why not come along and experience it all?
January to June 2026
Our leaders have our programme worked out – here’s a summary of what’s happening (the list below is not in any set order):
- Communicator Badge
- Thistle Award (we spread this badge out over the year – it’s not the same bit as we did last session)
- Challenge – Meteorologist Badge
- Survival Crafts
- Hillwalk
- Precautions – first aid and hazards
- Outdoor skills – cooking, stoves and tents
- Challenge – Problem Solving
- Teamwork Badge
- Survival Skills
- Navigator Badge
- Challenge – Water Sports
Add to that we have camps and other activities, we’re in for another busy session, so if you like a challenge, want to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun, we’re the place to be. If you would like to join us, our meeting details are above.
August to December 2025
Here’s what we did last session:
- Going Up Ceremony – this was our first night back. It lets us say hello to the Cubs who have moved up, and goodbye to the Scouts who moved to the Explorers. It’s not a full goodbye though, as the Scouts meet on the same night as the Explorers, so we see lots of our former Scouts every Friday.
- Survival Camp – we see this as an important part of Scouting and skills for life – it’s a camp we all enjoy where we learn new skills, have challenges and cook without any equipment except a metal tray. One year we cooked our eggs in potatoes because, our leaders told us, a potato isn’t really cooking equipment, but it was for us that weekend!
- Swimming – for our Swimmer Badge. We’ve done this before, but the Swimmer badge has 5 stages, so it lets some of us develop the swimming skill and earn another stage of the badge.
- Wide Game – the last wide game was to test our local knowledge and learn more about where we live, so we don’t know what challenge the leaders have in store for this wide game.
- Update: Our wide game was a map reading, grid reference and location challenge around Renfrew, organised by one of our Young Leaders. He had worked hard to plan it all ensuring it would test the Scouts, and they worked hard figuring it all out. Many thanks to our Young Leader for organising such a great evening which covered fun, challenge, learning and competition between the Patrols. A fair number of Patrol points were gathered that night!
- Fire theme – we’re all aware of the importance of fire safety, so the leaders like to be sure it’s something we’re knowledgeable about.
- Problem Solving – we have a night dedicated to that. We’re always solving problems at Scouts, so we’re interested to see what the leaders have for that night.
- Teamwork Challenge – they’re good nights as the patrols work against each other to win the challenges, all of which helps in our points for the Elliott Cup which is presented to the winning Patrol at the end of the summer session. (The history of the Elliott Cup is available by clicking here (the link takes you to another page on our website.))
- St Andrew’s Night – this was part of the Thistle Award where we learn more about our Country and it’s people.
- Christmas Craft Night – this is always interesting. This year we made candle holders from barrel staves. Not only did we have a brilliant Christmas present to take home, we were exposed to risk awareness and hazard perception – excellent skills to have as we grow.
