National Thank You Day – 4 July 2021

Date: 4th Jul 2021 Author: Colin Hogg

To recognise the UK’s first National Thank You Day, 2nd Renfrew Scout Group sends a HUGE thank you to all our leaders, members, family and friends.

Your support during the Covid pandemic has been outstanding and has meant that we’ve been able to continue meeting throughout. The Beavers met mostly on-line, but went outside when the weather allowed them to do so; the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers managed to brave the winter weather and met outdoors from the start of the session in August 2020 through to the last meeting before the summer break in June 2021.  What a troop!

We’ve seen our numbers increase during the pandemic, learned lots of skills we perhaps wouldn’t have, and have possibly all also developed a thicker skin to cope with the Scottish winters.

Scouting is alive and well for Renfrew Trinity, and that’s in no small part due to the leaders who volunteered to continue meeting, parents who are happy to send their young people, and the young people for coming along so willingly –  to see upwards of 90 members attending over the week, on a winter’s night, is a real treat for the leaders.

Add to that our patient neighbours around the church hall, who coped very well with the noise levels and coming and going during the outdoor meetings.

Thank you to one and all.
